August is the wrong month to heat up the oven, and these bars never ask you to. The oats toast in a skillet, the binder comes together in a saucepan, and the whole pan sets on the counter in about half an hour.
Honey is doing the real work here. Boiled for exactly one minute, it firms up enough to hold the bars together at room temperature, not just straight out of the fridge. We use honey from our own hives here in Libertyville, but any jar on your shelf behaves the same way.
