Baked pears with honey are halved fall pears roasted in a little honey butter until they turn soft enough to cut with a spoon. The honey melts into the pear juices and the butter, so the fruit comes out of the oven sitting in its own warm, glossy sauce. We hold half of it back until the end, because honey browns quickly and tastes best when it is not scorched.

It is the kind of dessert that asks almost nothing of you: four pears, one baking dish, and a jar of honey. Ours comes from the hives on the dealership campus in Libertyville, but any honey you like to eat by the spoonful will do the job.
